I along with three partners was given a task to clone a website named Meetup , in the Build Week of Masai School.

Today, I will take you through my journey of build week , and tell you all about the ups and downs we faced throughout.

Hey , I am Sahil Sachdev , from Udaipur , Rajasthan current pursuing full stack development from Masai School and we go through a build week at end of every month to apply everything we have learnt throughout the month and our knowledge to create or clone something with utmost accuracy.

The Beginning

We all were divided in teams and were distributed tasks to initialize our projects. I was part of team Echo along with Naeem Sheikh , Ranjit Kumar , and Archana Singh and we were given a task to clone a website named MEETUP.

Introduction to meetup :- Meetup is a platform for finding and building local communities. People use Meetup to meet new people, learn new things, find support, get out of their comfort zones, and pursue their passions, together.

We started our work with deciding the plan and structure , which basically is the most important part of any any project and working with React and Redux was bit tough as were new to it , but all we were was focused and positive from our side.

We decided about having the database on a API to fetch data from and then all the technologies we were gonna use , and then the pages and parts we were gonna create , and two people worked on creating database and two on static landing page.

Landing Page of Meetup

That was all for the first day , to know , to create a base for other day and to plan the entire structure was important and as decided , was our first day work.

The Distribution

We all had out strong points , so we talked about it and divided work accordingly because having good communication is all what it takes for good coordination and good productive results.

We attended our morning scrum , and then connected to divide further work to start with , one took login and part of authentication and other took different pages after login .

We worked on it whole day and then met to merge it all to see what we got and then we attended stand up to tell about our work and our further plans.

Then , Before sleep , I solved some other problems of Ds and Algo to cope up with the concepts as we had our UNIT EVALUATION at the end of the week as well.

The Actual Work.

We were mostly done with the static pages and it was to add the fetched data and to add major functionalities like creating and joining meetups and making different groups with you friends and commenting of someone else’s event and to know complete details from them.

We all worked together on this , and were there for each other all the time and helped each other to get the desired result.

Technologies and Libraries used.

  • React
  • CSS
  • Redux
  • React-redux
  • Redux-thunk
  • Ant Design
  • React-multi-carousel
  • uuid
  • React-recaptcha
  • React-dom
  • React-modal
  • React-moment
  • React-icons

These were all the technologies and libraries we use in our clone of meetup

The Wrap.

On the last day of our build week we merged everything and the result were not much upsetting and we all were happy with the output as we created something so much that like in original with proper functionalities and responsiveness and i was thankful that i was part of this build week and got to learn a lot from it and it helped me grow and i too am thankful and glad to have some good , kind partners by my side who helped me throughout .

SO , that’s all from my side about it , Proper communication , coordination , hard work , curiosity to learn something new , helping your mates were some of the things I learned from this project apart from sharping my knowledge with React , Redux and CSS concepts

I was glad that everyone liked our project and we went to the second stage of the presentation , we didn't won the competition but surely had a great experience with lot’s of fun and knowledge.

THANK YOU.
